Why Prometheus?
Prometheus Audio Works, much like the Greek hero who's namesake I chose for my studio, is about helping us mere mortals create music that is bigger than ourselves. It is about the pursuit and subsequent sharing of knowledge many starting out as artists fear is unobtainable to all but the most gifted.
And?
I didn't start on this path until I was 30 and much wiser and patient, at an age where I knew that when I felt a calling that it was true. My wife was the first person to buy me something that supported my music since my parents bought me a guitar at 15-an audio interface.
Why Me?
As the first musician in my family- growing up in a very rural environment (Halfway, OR population 300)- I was alienated from other musicians for the formative years of my musical journey, nor did I get encouragement in pursuing a music based career, so for a long time I simply traveled and jammed with people all over the US.
My Point?
My upbringing led me to be open minded and starved for musical collaboration, in any capacity. I have no need to be the star of the show or have my name get top billing. Simply put I will work my ass off for you on whatever project I am hired to do no matter how big or small, regardless of how many ears it may reach. And I will love every minute of it. All the while never asking for royalties- as Steve Albini once said, pay me like a plumber.
It took some time but eventually I decided to write and record an album-which was difficult (understatement) but also resulted in one of the most profound experiences of my short existence-true purpose. The first time I tried mixing something I found myself in love with the process. And I knew then I was meant to help other musicians realize their artistic goals.
A promise
Which leads us to the present- with PrometheusAudioWorks I combine all the things I love most, helping others, mixing tracks and helping see another musicians artistic vision through to fruition- either as an engineer or musician, as involved or hands off as you want me to be. If you hire me for your next project, I promise I will never give less than 110% and I'll do it with an open mind and heart and a smile on my face.
Like Prometheus when he stole fire from the gods and gave it to man, I will continue to learn from the best and share that knowledge with whoever seeks it out.Hope to hear from you soon- lets make some music! Remember- to help others is to help yourself and that happiness is only real when shared. Namo Amitabha Buddha.
